My Bakeries - Marunouchi

I went to Marunouchi in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. I found three bakeries there. Each of the shops are located about 5 minutes from Tokyo Station or Nijyubashi Station on the Chiyoda Line.

First, I went to ECHIRE MAISON DU BEURRE. This shop specialize in fermented butter called ECHIRE in France. They have salted butter and unsalted butter. The shop recommends the latter. It sells bread called Viennoiserie, patisserie and ice cream made with ECHIRE.

I bought two croissants with salted butter and unsalted butter. Both of them were yummy, but the salted butter smelled better and was juicier than the other. The price was 486 yen. ECHIRE is used at homes, restaurants and hotels around the world. This shop is also located in Shibuya and Shinjuku.

Second, I went to VIRON. This shop's atmosphere is like France, and it sells bread and traditional patisseries with wheat used in France. The shop's owner wished "I want to be able to eat authentic French bread in Japan" and opened this shop.

I bought a baguette that was about 40 centimeters. The outside of it was crispy and the inside was soft. The price was 396 yen. There is also a restaurant there, and you can enjoy French food and wine.

Third, I went to POINT ET LIGNE. It sells many original breads made with Japanese wheat. This shop's name means "point and line" in French. The shop's motto is "we want to spread our bread from the "point" of Tokyo to the "line" of the world".

I bought three breads there, with berries (280 yen), kiwi (280 yen) and bean pastes (270 yen)

There are many bakeries in Marunouchi. If you go to Tokyo Station, I recommend you find various bakeries.

This shop opened in 2009.

The shop's theme is "antique". There are ornaments made of playing cards, antique pictures and artificial flowers. There are also original characters such as cats, rabbits and hedgehogs. The magical chocolate ring, a popular product, is attached to the door of this shop. It's so cute!

This shop has a lot of sweet bread and confectioneries (rusks, jam, brownie, etc.). I bought three kinds of bread. First is a cheese france that was big and 20 cm in diameter. It had several kinds of cheese including Gouda, Mozzarella and others. The price is 734 yen.
Second is chocolate mille-feuille, which had chocolate and cheese. The price is 442 yen. Third is a white bread. It was shaped like a cat and it was soft . The price is 172 yen.

My Bakeries- Tochigi

I tried "ordering online", it means お取り寄せ(otoriyose) in Japanese. It is similar to online shopping and one of the ways we buy something.

The shop I ordered from was "PENNY LANE in Nasu". It opened in 2011. This shop's theme is The Beatles because its owner likes them very much.

I haven't been to this shop for a while, so I wanted to eat their bread after a long time. Also, it's hard to go there because it's so far away. This time I ordered a gift for Mother's Day. My mother also likes bread very much! Of course, there are usual sets of bread.

There were two bread and five confectioneries in the box. The box was cute! When I opened the box, I saw pictures of the landscape and a car. Please look at the upper picture. First, the bread at bottom left is a blueberry bread. It is most popular in the shop, which has the original blueberry sauce and jam. When I toasted this bread medium brown, the inside of it was soft and the outside was crispy. Next, the bread at upper of left is apple star. It has apple and nuts, which smells roasted.

This is a candle baum. As you can see, it was in the shape of a candle. The top expressed fire and tasted cassis. Finally, this is a limited Baumkchen on Mother's Day. It looked so cute. It was about 7 cm. The area around two Baumkchen was covered with colorful chocolate, so it smelled sweet. The others were yummy. The total price was 4,380 yen.

This shop has 5 stores in Japan. There are 4 stores in Tochigi Prefecture and the other one is in Ibaraki Prefecture. All bread of this shop is delicious! Recently, going out is difficult for us, so I recommend you to order a bit of expensive food online. Next time I want to go to there directly. Please try it.

My Bakeries - Omori

I went to "Torch.bakery" in Ota-ku Tokyo. It's located 5 minutes from Omori Station on the Keihin Tohoku Line. It takes about 10 minutes from Tsurumi Station. The shop in Kamata opened in 2014, and the sister shop, Omori, opened in 2017.

This shop sells many kinds of bread including sweet bread and bread with added something (chicken, curry, cheese, etc). It has a fashionable atmosphere which was full of customers , so I felt it is loved by local people. This shop's motto is "Took a bite of baguette on the bench. Was fascinated by the savor of wheat". The wheat, salt and sugar are made in Japan.
I bought two kinds of white bread, a tartelette and a danish. Please look at the picture. The left is with red bean paste and the right is with raisins. Both are half size and 180 yen. They were very soft and delicious. The tartelette has a summer citron, blueberry and custard cream. The price is 400 yen. The danish has many red berries. The price is 250 yen. Their fruits were very fresh!

There is a cafe space (10 seats), but it's now shut down due to COVID-19. Usually, you can enjoy the bread you bought soon. The plain white bread is very popular so you should make a reservation if you want to buy. Please try it.

My Bakeries- Akabanebashi

I went to Shimbashi Bakery Mita in Minato-ku Tokyo. It's located 3 minutes from Akabanebashi Station on the Toei Oedo Line. It is near Tokyo Tower and takes about 30 minutes from Yokohama Station.

This shop's motto is to make delicious and safe bread rich in wheat. It has a long history. In 1951 the former predisent established Shimbashi Bakery Co. as a high-class bread shop. First, the shop Shinbori opened in March 1973, and the sister shop, Mita, opened nearby in May 2005. Recently, it offers white bread, rolls and more. to hotels and restaurants. I was very surprised to hear that. They are loved by local people.

This shop has a cafe space (30 seats). There are original food items. If we order them, we can get all-you-can-eat bread by paying plus 150 yen. It's great to be able to eat different kinds of bread little by little. I ordered a beef stew (900 yen) and toast (580 yen). The beef stew was in a bowl made of baguette. The toast was about 4 cm thick and smelled of good butter. It was more delicious with honey. There was so much volume.

This shop also sells many kinds of bread.
I bought a danish (190 yen) and croissant (190 yen). The danish has a peach and custard cream. They were crispy and tasty.

This shop uses different materials according to the bread. They are constantly researching the best manufacturing method for each item. Please try it.

My Bakeries- Jiyugaoka

I went to Jiyugaoka is in Meguro-ku, Tokyo. Jiyugaoka Station is on the Tokyu Oimachi Line and Tokyu Toyoko Lines. It takes about 20 minutes from Yokohama Station. I found two bakeries there.

First, I went to パンの田島 (Pan No Tazima). This shop opened in March 2017. It has a retro atmosphere and is like an elementary school. Surprisingly, the employee room is indicated "teacher's room" instead. It's funny!
Please look at the left picture. What a cute menu this is! As you can see, this shop specializes in Coppepan (a roll in English). It sells many variations of bread that uses a roll and drinks. For example, there are a sweet roll (jam, chocolate, margarine, etc), a stuffed roll (egg, chicken, sausage, etc) and a deep-fried bread.
I bought a roll and a melon pan. The roll was soft and had a smoked salmon, cream cheese, lettuce and mustard inside. It had so much volume. The price was 400 yen. The melon pan also uses a roll, so the combination of the roll and sweet cookies is tasty. The price is 180 yen.

There is an eating space (19 seats). This shop is also located at Tsunashima and Musasi Koyama in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Second, I went to なんとかプレッソ (Nantoka Puresso). "Nantoka”, this word means "vaguely" in English. This shop's motto is "feeling is more important than reason". It opened in November 2017.  It is small but sells many kinds of bread. Bread is arranged on many wooden boards. The tongs are very colorful, so I enjoyed choosing bread.

I bought an original sandwich (350 yen) and a croissant (280 yen). The sandwich's correct name is サンド不イッチ (Sandofuitti), "fuitti" means disagreement in English because of different bread top and under. The top is puff pastry and the under is bread flavored with Japanese tea. It has strawberries, Mascarpone and sweet soy bean paste. It was unique and tasty. The croissant has chocolate, banana and almond cream. It was sweet and crispy. This shop also sells slow-drip coffee (350 yen), so it’s easy to drink because it has less bitterness and sourness.

There cafe is on the third floor. This shop is also located at Omote-Sando, Shibuya and Shonan.

Jiyugaoka is popular as a fashionable town. I recommend hanging out there.

My Bakeries- Oshiage

I found two bakeries near Tokyo Sky Tree.

First, I went to "Cafe Cocona". It's located 2 minutes from the B1 exit of Oshiage Station. This shop opened in June 2018. It sells fruit sandwiches, original hamburgers and other delis items. It is aiming to be a cafe that will become everyone's kitchen, while deepening interchange with customers.

Please look at the left picture. The cross section of them are beautiful! I bought a hamburger and two fruit sandwiches. The hamburger has yakisoba, ham cutlet and plain omelet. It has so much volume. The price is 450 yen. I like the fruit sandwich very much. I often buy one. The strawberry sandwiches are 450 yen, and the bananas are 350 yen.
The deli menu is different everyday because they use seasonal and fresh ingredients. When I go to there again, I want to try some deli items.

Second, I went to "Pain Maison". It is just one minute from the A3 exit of Honjo- Azumabashi Station. In this shop, "shio pan" (a bread with salt) is very popular. This opened for the first time in Yawatahama-shi, Ehime Prefecture 20 years ago. "Shio pan" was developed with a wish to make bread eaten deliciously even in summer. This bread became popular by local fisher men who came to buy many times. Then, "Pain Maison" opened in Tokyo in February 2018.

I bought "shio pan" (100 yen) and "shio melon pan" (150 yen). They were delicious! The dough is rolled directly around butter, so while baking them, the butter melts and the inside becomes hollow. The bottom of the bread becomes crispy from the melted butter. This is the secret for why its tasty and light. The "shio melon pan" is crispy and has sweet cookies. The combination of sweet and salty is so impressive! This shop sells many variations of bread that uses "shio pan".

All bread is popular, so there are restriction on purchases. The bread is baked every 10 minutes, so you can always eat fresh bread. There is a long table there, and coffee is sold goes well with the bread (50 yen). Some people eat the bread walking outside.

I recommend taking a walk near Tokyo Sky Tree. You will find something interesting there.

My bakeries- Nihonbashi

I went to Nihonbashi in Tokyo, and I found great two bakeries there. These bakeries that I'm now going to introduce are located in the Nihonbashi Takashimaya S.C. new building. It takes 10 minutes from the north exist of the Yaesu side at Tokyo Station or 5 minutes from Nihonbashi Station.

First, I went to "365 Days & Nihonbashi".
The shop's name means "Let's cherish everyday meals". This shop is small and simple. It is face-to-face selling over the counter, so the shop assistant serves the bread.

I bought four bread items are about the size of a palm. First is a pumpkin muffin (464 yen). It has a pumpkin, walnuts  and tea powder. It's very filling. Second is a sweet bread (302 yen). It has Iyokan orange, banana and nuts. Third bread is a ham-egg bread (248 yen). It's soft and cute. Fourth is a dinner roll (151 yen). It tastes strongly of wheat.

All bread is small and has a rare shape, so we can enjoy many bread items at once. They are made with domestic wheat, vegetables and fruits selected from all parts of the country. This shop also sells peanut butter, tea, pasta, seasoning, sundry goods and so on.
There is an eating space (10 seats), and we can eat an original big salad and sandwich there.

Second, I went to RITUEL.
The shop's name means "habit or ceremony" in French with a wish to you to spend a special time in your daily life. This shop came from France, which opened in Japan in 2005 for the first time. It is large and busy, and it sells crispy and a little hard bread.

I bought two bread items. The first is "escargot chocolate pistache" (390 yen). "Escargot" means "katatsumuri" in Japanese. It is shaped like a swirled like shell. It has pistachio cream and chocolate. It's  about 15 centimeters in diameter. There are 4 types of it in all. Second is "le sacristan" (300 yen). It is shaped like a twist. It has sugar and custard. It's about 20 centimeters. The toasted part is especially yummy. The inside of it is soft and the outside is crispy.

All bread uses wheat, eggs and milk selected strictly. There is an eating space (24 seats). This shop is also located at Daikanyama, Aoyama and Shinjuku.

I was impressed by the strong commitment of both bakers. I want to go to there again. Please try them!

My Bakeries-Tsurumi

I'd like to introduce two bakeries near Tsurumi University.

First, I will introduce BERNARD. It is located five minutes from Tsurumi Station on foot. This shop is small but it sells many kinds of bread including sweet bread and bread with something added (curry, egg, sausage etc). It's a chain shop, and there is also one near Oguchi Station in Yokohama City.  It smells good every time I pass the shop.

I bought apple danish and green-soybean-cheese bread. The first bread was sweet and soft. The apple on the danish was fresh. The price was 160 yen. The second bread had green soybeans, cheese and black sesame. It was a little hard. The price was 170 yen.

All bread is reasonable so you will want to buy a lot.

Second, I will introduce ESPLAN. It is just thirty seconds from Keikyu-Tsurumi Station. This shop sells about 50 kinds of bread. It also has 8 kinds of white bread, many confectioneries (financier, madeleine and so on) and jams there. It's a little expensive but very popular.

I bought croque-madame, Shine-Muscat-danish and "coffee-anpan". The first bread had a fried egg, ham and cheese on the loaf of bread. The fried egg was half-done. I think that it is suitable for breakfast. The price was 344 yen. The second bread was Shine Muscat and custard on the danish. Shine Muscats are very juicy and the danish is crispy. The price was 475 yen! The third bread was bean paste and fresh cream. The bean paste tasted a little like coffee. I know it's delicious so I was moved to eat it first. The price was 204 yen.
There is an eating space (10 seats). There are many limited seasonal bread so I'm looking forward to going there. Please try them!
